Tutti Frutti

Okay, so this isn't "all fruits"... in fact it's just the one fruit... but I thought that would be a fun title for this post :) I was inspired to do these nails because I have a new found love of mangos! I used to not like them, but I have no idea why! This summer I've been enjoying mango blended up in smoothies, as well as mango salsa with chips and on top of grilled fish. Mango may just be my new fave fruit :P

For these nails I used Sally Hansen Triple Shine Lemon Shark, Sally Hansen Triple Shine Kelp Out, and OPI Red. Of course I also used white, as well as some no name brown-ish polish for the stem, spots, and an outline. I even did a thin white line for a highlight on the fruit, and topped everything off with NYC Matte Me Crazy topcoat. Mangos kind of have a waxy feeling skin that I thought would go perfectly with matte topcoat. This is actually the first time I've used it and I can definitely see myself getting used to this!

A Slice of Paradise

Today's post is a bit of a departure from my typical post, because I didn't set up my "lightbox" and take pictures of this manicure. I did these on 7/16, the day before my husband and I left on our (belated) honeymoon to Aruba! I just didn't have the time to set up the camera and worry about a blog post, as I was too busy and excited doing last minute things to get ready for our trip.

In honor of the wild flamingos that roam Renaissance Island, I wanted to do a flamingo mani. At first I thought I might do a flamingo on each nail, but in the interest of time I decided to just do the accent nail. This is Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Coral Reef. It was a great color to use for the flamingos. I also used a touch of Ulta Encore Pink for the beak and to draw in the wing, and of course some white and black polish. The picture of my nails was taken at Manchebo Beach; I would've loved to have a pic of the flamingo nails actually in front of the flamingos, but I knew we weren't headed to Renaissance Island until later in the week and I figured they'd be chipped and messed up by then. (And of course they were!) Nonetheless, I think you get the idea :)

Let's Go Yankees!

Tomorrow night I will be at Camden Yards cheering on the Yankees as they destroy the Baltimore Orioles!!! I haven't been to Oriole Park in a long time and amazingly my husband has never been there so I am excited to be taking him. Even though I was loving my Ashleigh Joy nails, I wanted to have some festive nails for our night at the ballpark. I think these fit the bill :)

This is OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue! with Orly White Tips and OPI Red. I freehanded (can we make that a word?) the baseball and Yankee logo with a nail art brush. As I started taking the pictures I realized that the logo is upside down relative to how I've been trying to take my pictures. (I'm trying to get some consistency in my photos for you guys!) So I still took the pictures the same way, I just rotated the images on my computer after the fact!

Thanks for stopping by!

Update 7/26/14 - I've been out of town and really busy so it's taken me a while to post this update, but I still wanted to do it. The Yanks lost to the Orioles but we still had a lot of fun at the game :) Here's a view of my hands out in the wild!

Ashleigh Joy

Today my first niece is one day old! She was born yesterday at 12:54am. We went to visit her at the hospital yesterday and she was soooo cute!!! Babies are so tiny I just can't stand it :)

In honor of sweet little Ashleigh Joy, I wanted to dedicate today's manicure to her. This is my go-to white, Orly White Tips, and Ulta Encore Pink. I did cute little feet on my left hand and a teddy bear on my right hand. Many thanks to Francesca from thesimplenail for her beautiful inspiration as well as Jocelyn at PolishPedia for her adorable teddy bears! I actually was really happy with how the bear turned out considering I painted it with my non-dominant hand. Practice makes perfect!

Stars and Stripes

Happy 4th of July!!!! I finished these today right before we left to go see the fireworks so I'm just getting to posting these now. I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th as much as I did! Fireworks are just so beautiful, I love going to see them. :)

So this manicure consists of a whole bunch of different stuff...

On my left hand I did OPI DS Radiance on the pointer and pinky, Orly Royal Navy on the thumb, and Orly White Tips on the ring finger. All of these fingers then got a coat of China Glaze Disco, then INM Northern Lights, then Seche Vite. *Whoa!* I painted the flag on my middle finger (with a bit of help from some striping tape) using White Tips, Royal Navy, and OPI Friar Friar Pants on Fire, topped off with Seche Vite of course!

On my right hand I did the pointer and pinky the same as on the left hand, but Used Friar Friar on the thumb, again topped with Disco, INM, and SV. I did random dots on the middle and ring finger in the three main colors, topped off with SV.

I am really going to enjoy wearing these for a couple days. The holographic glitters in China Glaze Disco are so fun in person and I think that every time I do my nails I'm getting a little better at not smearing my nail art! Both the flag and the dots look pretty good, if I do say so myself!

Enjoy the pics, and your holiday weekend!

With a Cherry on Top

Hello dear readers! So sorry to keep you waiting for so long :P Last weekend I actually went out and had someone else do my nails *gasp!* It was weird to get a manicure at a nail salon since I've been investing so much time and energy in doing my nails myself this year. I was actually a little nervous about it beforehand, thinking that they might "mess up" my nail shape or cuticles, but it was for a girls day out so it was worth it! (And they didn't mess anything up, btw!) I thought about putting up pictures of my nails, but I figured I'd keep this blog focused on stuff I'd done myself. :) So anywho, now I'm back to taking care of my own nails, and today I bring you a very summery cherry mani! This is Revlon Red, Orly White Tips, and China Glaze Paper Chasing (for the stems). I am still trying to conquer this streaking issue that I mentioned in my last post... it is not as noticeable in the photos as it is in person, but you can definitely see it in the top pair of cherries - the one on the right. Oh well, I shall persevere!

Enjoy the pics and thanks for stopping by!

P.S. - I am hoping to update this post with some pictures of these nails that I took with my BRAND NEW CAMERA!!! Yaaay! :) We just got it from Best Buy and I took some pics already but I am still playing around with the camera, trying to learn how it works, and I have to figure out how to get the images onto my computer. :P I am soooo excited though, and really hoping to take my photos to the next level.
